Haverhill Shotokan Karate-Do |
|
Welcome The Haverhill Shotokan Karate-Do Club was affiliated with our now deceased Chief Instructor, Kazumi Tabata, founder of the North American Karate-Do Federation (NAKF) and the New England Collegiate Karate Conference (NECKC). Master Tabata had been teaching Shotokan karate in North America since 1968. We practice a traditional form of karate that was first introduced to Japan in 1922, by Gichin Funakoshi, considered the "father of modern day karate." |
| The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants. - Gichin Funakoshi The essential principles of Karate. Excerpt from: Karate-Do Kyohan, by Master Funakoshi |
